Of
all the Horrible Histories that Terry Deary has written his favourite
is "Wicked Words" - a Horrible History of the English language.
So
it's not surprising that he wants to write a series of English books
that will do for English Language what the "Spark Files"
have done for science and "Time Detectives" for History.
The
first script is finished and now he's trying to decide if it would
be best as a CD, a digital television series, a computer game or
one of those old-fashioned things - a book! You cannot buy these
stories yet, or find them in libraries - cos they ain't out! They
have never been published. Want to make Terry an offer?

Wild Words : The Tin Lane Torturers
The story is about a group of tough kids from Tin Lane who
set out to beat their teacher at the terrible tests ...
We're the ones the teachers fear!
We're the kids that teachers hate.
After suffering for years we finally came up with a revolting
plan. A plan to torture our teachers. Not with racks and burning
pokers and thumbscrews, of course. But with questions!
Four of us sat around a table and made an agreement. This
historic document will be in a museum one day. In the meantime
it's in an empty cake tin in Billy Butcher's garden shed.
Here it is ... look at it but don't try to steal it or Billy
will set his man-eating gerbil onto you!

The Tin Lane Torturers
We, the pupils of Tin Lane School, hereby declare that
we are at war with the terrible teachers. These are
the rules:
- We don't refuse to work, or disobey them, because
that just gets us punishments. Instead we will make
the teachers work so hard they'll be sweating right
down to their sweaty socks. We will pulverise them
with the power of the question!
- If we have to suffer exams and sit SATs then so
do the teachers. That's only fair!
- School is going to be f-u-n. Teachers are going
to beg to become bakers, bankers or bus drivers ...
anything rather than teach us!
