2009

The top ten highlights

This will be a busy and important year for Terry. The highlights of 2009 will be ...

  • 1   2009 will see Terry pass the 200 total for published books. They are also available in 40 languages and 500 foreign editions but 200 original titles is quite a landmark. He will write 12 new books in 2009
  • 2   Major new fiction series published, Master Crook's Crime Academy. A series of excitingly funny adventures set in a Northern town in 1837. The first 3 books of this 12-book series will appear this year
  • 3   New television series of Horrible Histories launches on British CBBC Television with a great new website to accompany it. The 13 television programmes will be presented as a series of comic sketches with top actors taking part.
  • 4   There will be a Horrible Histories - Frightful First World War exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London. This will run for 6 months and look at life in the trenches with a Horrible Histories viewpoint.
  • 5   Two brand new Horrible Histories plays will tour British theatres for 40 weeks of 2009. The plays will be based on Horrible Histories Blitzed Brits and Horrible Histories - Frightful First World War
  • 6   Terry will be launching a new "Ruthless Romans" computer game for Nintendo DS and Wii and PCs. Terry has scripted it and will be the "voice" of the game
  • 7   Terry will embark on another new fiction series for younger readers, The Museum of Nightmares. There will be three books in the series and if they're a success there could be a much longer series.
  • 8   To promote the new Master Crook's Crime Academy and the television series terry will be making personal appearances and doing a signing tour for the first time in 10 years. See the Diary (in the "House of Adventure") or the "Latest News" page for details later in the year.
  • 9   Terry will be talking to Hollywood producers and writers to bring his fiction series like The Fire Thief trilogy to the cinemas and to television. He's also working on an idea called The Wall at the end of the World for cinema.
  • 10   A new series of horrible Histories will launch in 2009. They will tell historical tales in an exciting new way.
